Thomas is charged in the assault reported around 9:55 p.m. Jan. 29 outside Salem Beverage at 3440 Salem Ave. during which a 29-year-old woman’s right foot was severed at the ankle when she was hit by an SUV. The woman, who had been Thomas’ girlfriend for a year, also suffered a broken left femur and required 13 stitches to close a laceration to her left thigh, according to an affidavit filed in Vandalia Municipal Court.

The woman identified Thomas as the man who was driving the 2013 Kia Soul that struck her, court records stated.
Video surveillance from the business showed the victim had been in an argument with Thomas, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
“The altercation became physical, and the defendant struck the victim in the face twice with a closed fist,” the prosecutor’s office reported. “The defendant got into his vehicle, a Kia Soul, and drove toward the victim as she was fleeing, striking her from behind and pinning her between the SUV and a pole near the door in the parking lot behind the business.”
Thomas, whose driver’s license was suspended, then drove off, fleeing the area, according to the prosecutor’s office.
He was charged Jan. 31 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He finally was arrested Dec. 2 at a house on Vancouver Drive in Dayton by the sheriff’s office with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service and Dayton police.
Thomas is held on a $500,000 cash bond in the Montgomery County Jail.
